There are many interesting places to visit and things to do in the area, including:
Chateaux
The Pays de la Loire and surrounding areas are teaming with beautiful and history enriched Chateaux. From Lassay les Chateaux renowned for its 15th century intact architecture, to Fougères castle, where history is brought to life via images and sounds, it is a must-visit for both adults and kids alike and a walk around the ramparts is not to be missed.
River Cruise
Take a trip from Mayenne, downstream. An enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours on a hot, sunny, summer afternoon on the River Mayenne. With running commentary about the history of the river, and the countryside you pass through. For that extra special experience you can dine on-board whilst enjoying the sights.
Markets
There are markets held most days in the local area, ranging from small quaint village markets, to much larger events held in the near by towns and cities. Whether you are looking for fresh local produce, or bargains at brocante markets, you will be well placed to visit them all from Les Gages.
Leisure Activities
Less than 3 miles away is the fantastic Parc de Loisirs de la Colmont. Here you can take a leisurely walk around the beautiful gardens, take to the water kayaking, try your hand at paint balling/lazer quest (new for 2019), or for the more adventurous high wire tree climbing. A great day out for all.
Beautiful Beaches
Just over an hour away is the beautiful World Heritage Site Baie du Mont St-Michel with its world-famous island abbey. The Baie de Mont St-Michel puts on an ever-changing, yet always sublime show with themed walks available including one to view the Banc des Hermelles, an extraordinary reef built by sea-worms!
Normandy
Being only 3km from the border of Normandy, Les Gages is well situated to visit an area steeped in history. Having been named as one of the world's top regions to visit in 2019, it is remembering the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. During the whole year a rich and unprecedented programme of events are being held to bring the memory of this period of world history to life.
